    I need to start compiling a list of confirmed volunteers – both instructors and staff – for our upcoming TRSS on June 3rd. For those not familiar, the Tire Rack Street Survival program is teen driving program that focuses on real-world hands-on training using the student’s own car. It’s a wonderful program that yields real results. If not familiar you can find more info at http://www.streetsurvival.org.

    Instructors need to have an understanding of vehicle handling dynamics (autox/racing is not required), basic communication skills, and a desire to help young drivers learn. You will also need to complete an online training course if you have not instructed in the past. (Last year’s instructors do not need to retake it.) Other staff volunteers do not need any prior knowledge or experience, just a desire to help out (course set-up, shagging cones, student/parent hospitality, etc.) It will require a full day of your time. You’ll need to be on-site around 7 or 7:30am, and we’re usually packed up and heading out around 5pm.

    Depending on the number of students (we would love to see 20+) we need somewhere between 12-20 instructors and 10 or more additional volunteers. We will provide coffee/juice/breakfast munchies, lunch, and an official shirt (polos for instructors, t-shirts for staff).

    Please post here or contact me (Shane Eudy) via the Contact page if you’re interesting in helping out. Also, if you need a shirt – or possibly a larger shirt 😉 – please let us know the size. [note: I’m not sure about the t-shirts, but the polos definitely run a little small. Most will be best served with one size larger than you usually wear.]
