Hello all. I am setting up a street class car for the first time in an attempt to actually compete for once in the PAX scores. I was wondering if “standard springs” as stated in the Solo rules means stock springs with stock spring rates, or if it means stock style springs? (for example, sport coil springs on the factory perches being “standard” vs. coil overs being “non-standard”). Thanks.

Stock springs only – cannot upgrade. They say “stock style” to include an OEM-like replacement. But spring rates have to be the same as stock.
If this is your first time competing – just run your car stock and get used to it. Seat time will make more of an impact than upgrades. Once you’re familiar with your car and you hit a plateau, then consider upgrades. Being familiar and comfortable with your car first will make it easier to tune it once you do any upgrades.
Being in the street class, all you are allowed to upgrade are shocks/struts, one sway bar, and a catback exhaust that exists at the stock location.

Thanks for the clarification. I figured that is what they meant but wanted to make sure. I ran a X Prepared Civic in Autocross and in SPU class for time trials for years. I have been out for a couple of years but am planning on getting the kids into it now that they both have licenses. My son has an e46 with the factory sport package so I thought it would be a good car to start them in and maybe I can relearn how to drive as well in a car with the drive wheels at the proper end. Hope to see you guys in 2019. May even luck up and make the final day series event.

Looking forward to seeing you out there!
