Highlands is always interested in exploring new opportunities and venues for our club. If you know of a sufficiently sized lot that we might be able to use, let us know in this thread!

Bonus points if you’re able to secure contact information for us.

      FYI: Possibility in the future.

The ford motor company has paved the furthest back parking lot at the WNC Ag-Center.
They were using it yesterday to train new ford owners in there high tech SUV’s.
They were doing some sorta of emergency simulation training — looked a lot like autocross.
They were also doing some sorta of accident avoidance emergency stop simulation training.
I was told ford motor company will be using it for the next several months.

I met face to face (Mask to mask 6′ apart) with the Ag-Center manager the other day and he told me ford motor company has the lot under contract at this time.
HSCC CAN NOT RENT IT AT THIS TIME!

Has anybody ever looked into using the AB Tech Woodfin campus. They have a very large paved course up there that is used for training ems, fire, and first responders. I know the course can handle full sized fire trucks, and is pretty well maintained. Maybe it’s worth a shot reaching out to them and seeing if we can set something up.

      Justin, Thanks for the lookout!
I have heard about it before but never seen it.
      Sounds worth looking into.

After talking to a few former officers of the club, I believe we looked into this maybe 5-6 years ago (when it first opened?) but there wasn’t much interest in allowing autocross there. There might be some options for courses, but I think we’d need to walk the site to be sure.

I looked at the aerial photo last night and I am not sure it is suitable for Autocross.
I would like to see it in person.

I went and checked it out the other day before work and I think it’s going to be a bit too small. There’s light poles which you can just barely see on the screenshot I posted strewn throughout the place.

Thanks Justin for the AB Tech ems training sight in Woodfin suggestion.
And Thanks Cam for checking it out in person.
It would sure be nice to have other options closer.

The campus is great for training first responders but there isn’t a real high speed driving area, it wasn’t designed for that.

I think it would be a fantastic TRSSS site though.

      Definitely something to consider Chris.
The location may draw more participation for a TRSSS than the Franklyn site has in the past.
It would be interesting to know if they would rent it, and how much it would be?
